A Legendary Evening – August 20, 2016
This year the Foundation will be honoring two Exemplary Vikings: Staff Sergeant Kenneth A. Brook and Dr. Scott H. Maurer.
Staff Sergeant Kenneth Brook is a 2000 graduate of Niles High School. After graduation Ken joined the Army and has served his country with three deployments. Ken was one of the first deployed to combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He also served two tours to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2006 and 2009. Ken is currently an Army Recruiter in Chicago Illinois.
Scott Maurer, MD graduated from Niles High School and the Berrien County Math & Science Center in 1996. Dr. Maurer is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology with a special expertise in Myeloid Leukemia and Cancer. He holds a faculty position as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine and is Director of Pediatric Palliative Care at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Maurer provides clinical care to children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and hospice care to children with incurable disease.
Once again, our fundraiser will be held at the beautiful Orchard Hills Country Club. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2016 beginning at 6:00 pm. We are looking forward to a fun filled evening and a successful fundraiser for the students of Niles Community Schools.

The mission of the Niles Education Foundation “Growing Minds…Changing Lives” is to acquire and grant resources exclusively in support of the Niles Community Schools for programs and projects aimed at enhancing, enriching and supplementing learning opportunities for students, staff and community.
