Thank you for your interest in the Niles Education Foundation (NEF) grant/project program. The program is open to all certified Niles Community Schools staff members.
Anyone seeking grant/project funds from the NEF will be required to submit an application form. This form will provide committee members and the NEF board with the information needed to make a judgment regarding the funding of your grant. Please be as specific as possible when completing the application.
N.E.F. Grant/Project Application
Definition of a Grant: A grant can be $1,000 or under. A grant is one-time funding, and it must be innovative and original to the district. In addition, to qualify for a grant, funds are not available through the district to cover the cost.
Definition of a Project: A project can be more than $1,000 and it may be a one-time gift or take up to three years to complete. If you are applying for a project, please write the anticipated cost for each phase (maximum of 3) in the “Budget” section of the application.
Once grants/projects have been reviewed by the grant committee and the board, the Foundation will take one of three actions:
- Approve the application for funding;
- Return the application with suggestions for a resubmission; or
- Disapprove of the application.
*If your grant is not funded this year, you may re-apply next year.
NEF does not fund camperships, scholarships, food, or lodging. Our goal is to reach as many students as possible and enhance the learning environment for NCS students.
If you are awarded funding, you will receive further instruction regarding how to follow up with the Foundation. Grant funds must be expended within one year of the award.
